Policies |
Hamden Adult Education programs are open to all residents who are over 16 years of age. Non-residents are welcome to participate in the enrichment program.
Persons enrolled in Basic Skills, ESOL, GED, American Citizenship and High School Diploma Programs are exempt from tuition. Residents enrolled in enrichment courses must pay the designated fee by check, money order or credit card.
Books and materials for all classes requiring same will be acquired by students at their own expense. If supplies are to be purchased prior to class, we recommend you confirm your class before purchasing supplies.
Any class may be cancelled for insufficient enrollment or for any other reason beyond the control of the Adult Education Director.
Adult Education classes are automatically cancelled if Hamden Public Schools are closed during the day. If the weather deteriorates during a scheduled school day necessitating canceling evening classes, an announcement will be made on Channels 3, 30 and 8 prior to 6:30 pm. If school is delayed, classes at our learning lab at the Keefe Community Center begin at their scheduled time. Check website www.hamdenadulted.org.
A $15.00 processing fee will be subtracted for any refunds made. All refund requests must be made prior to the second class session. Refunds for craft and cooking classes must be requested one week prior to start date due to the cost of supplies. Bus trips refunds must be requested as noted under each trip description.
Hamden Public School buildings and grounds are SMOKE FREE. Board Policy P-1331 adopted 11-12-97.
Certificates may be purchased at the Adult Education Office.

Anyone who needs assistance to gain access to classrooms, special GED test accommodations or any other accommodations for effective communication should contact LuAnn Gallicchio, Hamden Adult Education (407.2028) prior to the event so the necessary accommodations may be provided. The adult education program is committed to making all course offerings accessible, and upon request, this brochure is also available in alternative formats. Adults 62 years and older are eligible for the senior citizen rates.

Participants will be charged $25 for each check returned by the bank.
